Kuala Kangsar

Lions Club of Kuala Kangsar

The royal town of Kuala Kangsar (KK) beckons … a town with two unique palaces, a picturesque Ubudiah Mosque, century old bridges and much, much more.
I had good company throughout this visit namely Zone 8 Chairman Dr. Fong Loong Foon, DC Social Services P.S. Subramaniam and Taiping Club President Steven Lim who offered to accompany me on the short drive to KK, as it is locally called.
Lucky me, as the three Perak-ians knew accompanying me knew all the stops for good food and interesting places.

The Lions Club of KK held its meeting at the Idris Club. Originally a rest house with a distinct British architecture, the Idris Club was named after His Royal Highness, Sultan Idris Shah, the 33rd Sultan of Perak.

The meeting was efficiently conducted with soft-spoken club President Tan Boon Hoe at the helm. Lion Dato’ Dr. R. Arunasalam acted as the spokesman for this very active club. Dato’ was witty and obviously the live wire of the club.
He added that the club focused on serving their local community through various projects. Their primary focus was on supporting the community's well-being, often with a focus on vision, hearing, and speech conservation, diabetes awareness, and youth outreach. The community respected the Lions Clubs as their members were known for their commitment to service.

Cheers KK!
